Administration Guide

How to configure the Site Template

This guide shows you how to edit the instance-wide Site Template - the bundle of defaults that AlloyScan copies into every newly created Site at creation time.

Read About Site Template before changing anything: edits made here are one-shot seeds. They affect future Sites only and do not retroactively modify any Site that already exists.

Note: This page covers instance-level administration in App Management. It is used by Global Administrators.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in as a Global Administrator.
  • You know which subsystem you are seeding - Notification templates, Reports, Web reports, Change tracking, Tools, or Snapshot storage.
  • You know the next planned Site creation that will pick up the new defaults. If no new Sites are planned, the edits will sit dormant until the next creation.

The six subsystems

The Site Template is a single navigation node with six subsystem pages under it.

Subsystem Menu path Mirrors per-Site page
Notification templates Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Notification templates Site Settings > Notifications > Notification templates
Reports Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Reports Site Settings > Reports
Web reports Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Web reports Site Settings > Reports > Web reports
Change history tracking Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Change history tracking Site Settings > Settings > Change tracking
Tools Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Tools Site Settings > Customization > Tools
Snapshot storage Admin Center > App Management > Site Template > Snapshot storage Site Settings > Snapshot storage

Steps

  1. Navigate to the subsystem page from the table above.
  2. Edit the records - add, edit, or delete templates, reports, tools, or snapshot configuration.
  3. Save.

For object-level behavior inside each subsystem, use the corresponding per-Site admin topics as the detailed reference. The Site Template layer explains defaults for future Sites; the per-Site topics explain how the object works inside one Site.

Verify

The reliable end-to-end verification is to create a new Site and inspect what got seeded.

  1. Navigate to Admin Center > App Management > Sites > + New Site.
  2. Create a new Site.
  3. Open the new Site's per-Site equivalent of the subsystem you just edited.
  4. Confirm the records you set on the Site Template appear on the new Site.

Existing Sites created before the edit are unaffected.

If you need every existing Site to pick up the change

There is no "apply template to existing Sites" action.

  • Manual edit per Site. Walk each existing Site through its per-Site page and apply the same edit.
  • API-driven edit per Site. If you maintain many Sites, use automation against the per-Site APIs or admin surfaces.
