How to configure Inventory settings

This guide shows you how to configure per-Site inventory pruning for stale devices.

Admin Center > Site Settings > Settings > Inventory settings

What this page controls

The Inventory settings page controls whether AlloyScan should remove devices that have not been seen for longer than a configured age threshold.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in as a Site Administrator.
  • You know the retention window that makes sense for stale devices on this Site.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Admin Center > Site Settings > Settings > Inventory settings.
  2. In Pruning, decide whether to enable Remove devices that are older than [N] days.
  3. If enabled, set the number of days that defines "older than" for stale-device cleanup.
  4. Save.

Choosing the pruning threshold

Use a shorter threshold when:

  • device churn is high
  • stale inventory must be cleaned aggressively
  • dashboards and reports must stay tight

Use a longer threshold when:

  • long-lived but infrequently audited devices are expected
  • historical visibility matters more than aggressive cleanup

Verify

  1. Refresh the page and confirm the pruning setting persisted.
  2. Review stale-device behavior over time and confirm devices older than the configured threshold are handled according to policy.
