About Sites in App management

Use Admin Center > App management > Sites when you need to manage the portfolio of tenant Sites on the AlloyScan instance.

This is an instance-level surface for Global Administrators. Site Administrators edit their current Site from Admin Center > Organization profile.

Note: This page covers instance-level administration in App management. It is used by Global Administrators.

Admin Center > App management > Sites

What this page is for

The Sites page is where a Global Administrator:

  • reviews the list of tenant Sites hosted on the instance
  • creates a new Site
  • opens an existing Site for follow-up administration
  • reasons about the instance as a multi-site deployment rather than as one current tenant

Sites vs Organization profile

The two surfaces work together, but they do different jobs:

Surface Scope Typical use
App management > Sites Whole instance Create and review Sites across the deployment
Admin Center > Organization profile One current Site Edit that Site's title, slug, avatar, and per-Site caps

Create and portfolio-level review happen in App management. Site-specific configuration happens in the Site Administrator's Admin Center after the Site exists.

What happens at Site creation

When a Global Administrator creates a new Site, AlloyScan creates the Site shell and copies the current instance Site template defaults into the new Site.

That means:

  • there is one instance-wide Site template state
  • new Sites inherit whatever that state is at creation time
  • later edits to the Site template do not retroactively change Sites that already exist

For the Site template model itself, see About Site template.

Typical flow

  1. Open Admin Center > App management > Sites.
  2. Create the new Site shell.
  3. AlloyScan copies the current Site template defaults into the new Site.
  4. Have the Site Administrator continue with tenant-specific configuration in the new Site's Admin Center.
