How to create a scan schedule
This guide shows you how to create a Scan schedule that runs network discovery on one or more Segments at a recurring time, without manual intervention.
A Scan schedule is a per-Site definition with a Name and a Granularity. After you create it, you attach it to one or more Segments by opening the Segment view; this guide covers the catalog side. For attachment, see the Segment view documentation.
Prerequisites
- You are signed in as a Site Administrator. Only an administrator can create or delete schedule definitions; ordinary Site Users can only assign or unassign existing schedules.
- The Segment you intend to scan already exists. If it does not, create it first.
Steps
- Navigate to Admin Center > Site Settings > Settings > Scan schedules.
- Click + New schedule.
- Fill in the fields:
- Name — a human-readable label that identifies the schedule in the catalog and in the Scan log.
- Granularity —
Daily,Weekly, orMonthly. Additional cadence fields may vary by deployment.
- Click Save.
Verify
The new schedule appears in the Scan schedules grid with Name, Type = Scan, Created at, an empty Last execution, and a populated Next execution computed from the granularity.
To make the schedule actually run, attach it to at least one Segment from the Segment view. The Scan log records the resulting runs.
Note: The Scan log entry pattern for scheduled scans (specifically the
Initiator = Schedulerow) may vary by deployment. If you do not see scheduled-scan rows after the first expected execution, check that the schedule is attached to the right Segment and that the Next execution time has actually passed.
