How to create a scan schedule

This guide shows you how to create a Scan schedule for a Segment so AlloyScan runs discovery on a recurring cadence.

A Scan schedule belongs to a Segment. Create it while creating a Segment, or later from the Segment view. Use Admin Center > Site Settings > Settings > Scan schedules to review existing scan schedules.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in as a Site Administrator.
  • The Segment you want to scan already exists, unless you are creating the schedule as part of a new Segment.

Create a schedule while creating a Segment

  1. Create a Segment and complete the earlier wizard steps.
  2. In Step 4 - Scan schedule, click Create schedule.
  3. In Create schedule, choose Occurs:
    • Daily - run at a specific time, or repeat every N hours.
    • Weekly - choose one or more days, then run at a specific time or repeat every N hours.
    • Monthly - choose the day of the month, then run at a specific time or repeat every N hours.
  4. Click Create.

Create a schedule for an existing Segment

  1. Open Network > Segments.
  2. Open the Segment that needs a recurring scan.
  3. In the left panel, next to Next scan, click Create schedule.
  4. Complete the same Create schedule fields.

Verify

The Segment view shows the scheduled next scan time. The schedule also appears in Admin Center > Site Settings > Settings > Scan schedules.

After the scheduled time passes, the Scan log records the resulting scan runs.
