User Guide

How to Subscribe to Notifications

This guide shows you how to subscribe yourself or other users to notification templates and choose the delivery channel.

Prerequisites

  • For self-subscription: a working AlloyScan account on the site.
  • For admin-managed subscriptions: Administrator role on the site.
  • The instance Email client (Admin Center > App management > Email) is configured if you intend to use the Email channel.
  • The notification templates you want to subscribe to already exist on the site. Templates are managed by Site Administrators; see the Administration Guide for the per-site template workflow.

Steps

Subscribe yourself (own-level)

  1. Click the bell icon (🔔) in the application header to open the Notifications side panel.
  2. Click the gear icon inside the panel labeled Manage alert subscriptions.

  3. Pick the templates you want to subscribe to and select the delivery channel(s) — Email and/or Web browser.

  4. Save.

Note: Self-managed subscriptions take effect for the current user only. Administrators see and can edit the same records via the Admin Center entry point below.

Manage subscriptions for other users (admin-managed)

  1. Open Admin Center > Site Settings > Notifications > Subscriptions.
  2. Identify the user. Subscriptions are grouped by user name (Name: <user> (Items: N)). Expand the row to see the user's individual subscriptions.

  3. Add or remove subscriptions for the user as needed, and pick the delivery channel for each:

    • Email — delivered by the instance Email client.
    • Web browser — surfaced inside AlloyScan via the bell icon.
  4. Save.

Important: A subscription with no delivery channel selected does not produce any notification. Confirm that at least one channel is selected per subscription.

Verify

  1. Trigger an event that the subscribed template covers — for example, complete a discovery scan that introduces a new device for a New computer detected subscription.
  2. For Email-channel subscriptions, check the recipient's inbox and confirm a row appears in Admin Center > Site Settings > Logs > Notifications with a Sent status.
  3. For Web browser-channel subscriptions, click the bell icon (🔔) and confirm the new entry appears in the Notifications side panel.

Note: If an expected email never arrives, check that the instance Email client is configured, the user has a working email address, the template is enabled, and the Notifications log does not show a delivery error.
