How to apply conditional formatting
This guide shows you how to colour-code rows in an Inventory grid based on field values, so devices that need attention stand out at a glance.
Prerequisites
- You have access to an Inventory grid (any device type). Conditional formatting is exposed on Inventory grids; it is not available on the Segment Open view's Scan Results grid.
- You have permission to save grid views (any role for personal views; Administrator for shared views).
Steps
- Navigate to Inventory >
<device type>to open the grid you want to format. - Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the grid toolbar to open the Customize View side panel.
- Open the Conditional formatting tab.
- Define a formatting rule by choosing a field, a condition, and the visual treatment to apply when the condition matches.
- Add additional rules as needed.
- Click Apply at the bottom of the panel to preview the formatting on the grid.
- Click Save or Save As to persist the rules with the grid view.
Note: Details may vary by deployment.
Verify
After applying the rules you should see:
- Matching rows render with the visual treatment you configured.
- The formatting persists as part of the saved view, so anyone using that view (or only you, for a personal view) sees the same colour-coding.
Tips
- Combine conditional formatting with a saved filter to reduce the grid to just the rows that need attention while still highlighting variations among them.
- Conditional formatting is part of the saved view, not of the device record itself — clearing the view clears the formatting display, but does not change any device data.
