How to use Quick search

Use Quick search when you want to jump to a record or command without first navigating through the sidebar.

Quick search is available from the top header on authenticated AlloyScan pages. The search field shows / as its keyboard hint.

  1. From any AlloyScan page, click Quick search in the top header.
  2. Or press /.
  3. Start typing the name or term you want to find.

Use search results

Quick search opens a command-palette style panel. Use it to move quickly from your current page to a matching record or destination.

Common starting points include:

  • a device name or hostname
  • a software product name
  • a report name
  • an administration page name, if your role can access it

The exact fields matched by Quick search can vary by deployment and by the current feature set. If you need a precise list of devices, software, or reports, use the module grid filters after opening the target module.

Keyboard behavior

  • / opens Quick search from the page header.
  • Arrow-key behavior inside result lists can vary by browser and deployment.
  • In grid views, use grid filters for precise row filtering. Do not rely on Ctrl+F as the AlloyScan quick-filter shortcut; newer grid behavior reserves browser find and uses product controls instead.

When to use grid filters instead

Use module-specific filters when you need:

  • exact column filtering
  • saved views
  • conditional formatting
  • export of the filtered result set
  • large result sets that may exceed the visible quick-search result list
