How to create an Address list segment
This guide shows you how to create an Address list segment so that AlloyScan can discover and audit devices on a specific IP range, subnet, or named host list inside your network.
Prerequisites
- Site Administrator role.
- At least one Audit Service deployed and registered, or be ready to install one during the wizard.
- Credentials available for the target devices (for example, Windows domain credentials, SSH credentials).
- Network connectivity from the Audit Service host to the target range. See Required Ports Reference.
Steps
- Navigate to Network > Segments.
- Click + New segment.
- On the Segment type page, select Address list and click Next.
- The 5-step wizard opens. In Step 1 - Select or install audit service, pick an existing Audit Service from the combobox. > If no Audit Service is registered, click Download audit service, install it on a Windows host inside the target network, return to the wizard, and refresh the service list. See How to install Audit Service.
- In Step 2 - Address list, enter the addresses you want to discover. You can specify IP ranges, subnets, DNS names, or NetBIOS names.
- In Step 3 - Audit credentials, select or create the credentials needed to authenticate to the target devices.
- In Step 4 - Scan schedule, choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly, or pick Continue without a schedule to defer scheduling.
- In Step 5, review the configuration and create the segment.
- (Optional) On the segment, enable Automatically audit discovered devices if you want every newly discovered device to be audited automatically, and set Auto tag to apply a tag to every discovered device.
Verify
After saving, the new segment appears in Network > Segments with the Address list type icon, the assigned Audit Service, and zero discovered devices. Open the segment and click Scan to confirm the segment can reach its targets — the Last scan statistics panel updates with Total discovered, Ignored, New nodes, and Known inventory counts.
