About Global Notification Templates
Use App management > Notification templates for notification templates that belong to the AlloyScan instance rather than to one current Site.
This page is easy to confuse with two other notification-template surfaces. They have different scopes and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Note: This page covers instance-level administration in App Management. It is used by Global Administrators.

What global templates are for
Global notification templates support instance-scope notification behavior. On the current spec baseline, this surface exposes global/system categories rather than the full set of site-level template categories.
Use this area when the event belongs to the instance as a whole. Use Site Settings when the event belongs to one Site.
Global templates vs Site Template defaults
Global Notification templates are active templates for global events.
Site Template > Notification templates are seed data. AlloyScan copies those defaults into a new Site at creation time. Editing the defaults later does not update Sites that already exist.
Authoring guidance
When documenting or configuring notifications:
- do not describe global templates as a way to update all existing Sites
- do not describe Site Template defaults as active runtime templates
- direct administrators to the per-Site template catalog when they need to change one tenant's behavior
- use the global template page only for instance-level events
