How to review Segment scan results

Use the Segment Open view to review what a scan found, decide which devices are ready for audit, and exclude noise with the Ignore list.

Open the Segment results

  1. Open Network > Segments.
  2. Click the Segment name.
  3. Review the left rail and the Scan Results grid.

Read the left rail

The left rail summarizes the Segment state:

Field Meaning
Audit service Audit Service assigned to the Segment. If it shows No service, the Segment cannot run new scans or audits.
Last scan Most recent scan timestamp.
Next scan Next scheduled scan, or a prompt to create a schedule.
Last scan statistics Counts for total discovered nodes, ignored nodes, new nodes, and known inventory.

If Scan is disabled, first verify that the Segment has an active Audit Service.

Use Scan Results filters

The Scan Results grid includes filter chips such as:

  • All — every row found by the scan
  • New nodes — discovered devices not yet known in Inventory
  • Inventory — discovered devices already matched to Inventory records

Use these filters to decide what to audit next.

Check Ready for audit

The Ready for audit column indicates whether AlloyScan has enough information to audit the row.

  • A ready row can be selected and audited from the toolbar.
  • A row that is not ready usually needs credentials, an assigned Audit Service, or prerequisite connectivity fixed first.

Audit selected rows

  1. Tick one or more rows in Scan Results.
  2. Click Audit.
  3. Monitor the queued task in Admin Center > Tasks and services > Active tasks.
  4. After completion, verify the device appears or updates in Inventory.

Audits consume the Site's Audits per month quota.

Prepare devices for audit

Use the wrench in the Ready for audit column to diagnose one discovered device. To set audit credentials or enable PowerShell remoting for multiple devices, select at least two devices and use the wrench on the action toolbar. See How to prepare discovered devices for audit.

Move noise to the Ignore list

If a scan finds devices that should not be audited, select those rows and click Move to Ignore list.

Ignored identifiers are skipped by future scans. Use this for known noise such as unmanaged devices, lab equipment, or addresses outside your audit scope.
