How to manage the Manufacturer registry

This guide shows you how to add and maintain entries in the instance-wide Manufacturer registry. AlloyScan uses Manufacturer entries to normalize vendor strings returned by audits — the registry maps observed vendor names to canonical Manufacturer records via keyword matching.

Prerequisites

Note: This page covers instance-level administration in App Management. It is used by Global Administrators.

  • You sign in as a Global Administrator.
  • You know the canonical name of the manufacturer, its public URL, the device-component Type the entry applies to (for example, CPU or Motherboard), and the keywords that audits typically return for this vendor.

Steps

  1. Sign in to AlloyScan as a Global Administrator.
  2. Open Admin Center > App management > Resources > Manufacturers.
  3. To add a new manufacturer, click + Add.
  4. Enter the canonical Name and the manufacturer's URL.
  5. Choose the Type pill (for example, CPU or Motherboard).
  6. Add one or more Keywords. Each keyword is a substring that audit data may contain and that should resolve to this manufacturer record.
  7. Save the entry.

To edit an existing entry, click its Name in the grid and update the fields.

Note: The Manufacturer registry is instance-wide. Changes apply to every Site on the instance and affect normalization on subsequent audit ingest.

Verify

  • Trigger an ad-hoc audit on a device whose audit data contains one of the keywords you added.
  • Open the device form on the Site and confirm the manufacturer field for the matching component now resolves to the canonical Name.
