Grid Controls Reference
AlloyScan list pages use a common grid pattern for Inventory, Software, Reports, Logs, and many Admin Center pages.
This reference explains the controls that appear across those grids. Individual modules may hide controls that do not apply to their data.
Common toolbar controls
| Control | Purpose |
|---|---|
| View selector | Switch between saved views such as Default View and custom views. |
| Type or sub-view selector | Switch a grid's logical view, such as Software by name vs by name and version. |
| Action buttons | Run actions on selected rows, such as Audit, Schedule, Tag, Delete, Upload, or Change history. |
| Filter items | Search within the loaded grid rows. |
| More menu | Open additional grid-level actions. |
| Settings / gear | Open the Customize View panel for columns, filters, formatting, fields, and grouping. |
| Pagination controls | Move between pages of loaded rows. |
Customize View panel
Inventory grids expose the richest version of the Customize View panel:
- Columns — choose and reorder visible columns
- Filter — build column-based filters
- Conditional formatting — highlight rows based on values
- Fields — choose additional data fields exposed by the device type
- More — grid-specific options
Other grids may expose a smaller set of tabs.
Saved views
Use saved views when you need to reuse a column, filter, sort, or grouping setup.
- Users can save personal views.
- Administrators can save shared views, where supported.
- Shared-view controls may vary by deployment.
Grouping
Most grids support grouping by dragging a field into the Group By target. Grouped rows can be expanded and collapsed.
1000-row cap and Load all
Large grids load the top 1000 records by default. When the cap applies, AlloyScan shows a banner explaining that grouping and column filters apply only to the loaded subset.
Use Load all only when you need to work with the complete result set. Loading all rows can be slower on large Sites.
Recent grid behavior notes
The current spec set tracks newer grid capabilities, including:
- collection or array-valued fields in filters
- field-to-field comparison filters
- native
.xlsxexport - select-across-all-pages behavior
- expanded conditional highlighting
Some of these details are release-driven and may require deployment-specific verification. Do not document exact operator names or control labels unless you have confirmed them on the target build.
