How to view Software Change history
Use Software Change history to review software-related changes captured by Change tracking, such as installations, removals, and version changes.
Prerequisites
- Change tracking is enabled for the Site.
- The General tracking category includes the software-related sub-attributes.
- At least two audits have run after Change tracking was enabled.
If Change tracking is off, the Software catalog still shows the current state, but it does not show historical deltas.
Steps
- Open Software from the left sidebar.
- Click Change history in the Software grid toolbar.
- Review the change rows.
Typical fields include:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Device name | Device where the change occurred. |
| Date | When AlloyScan recorded the change. |
| Type | Kind of change, such as added, modified, or deleted. |
| Attribute | Software-related value that changed. |
| Old value | Previous value, when available. |
| New value | Current value. |
What changes can appear
Software Change history can include:
- software added to a device
- software removed from a device
- software version changes
The selected Required software, Forbidden software, and Regular software sub-attributes determine which classified products generate these events. Changes to the group membership itself appear in the global Change log rather than Software Change history.
If no rows appear
Check these common causes:
- Change tracking is disabled.
- The General category is enabled but software sub-attributes are not selected.
- The Site has not completed enough audits after Change tracking was enabled.
- Retention has already removed older change events.
