How to View Change History

This guide shows you how to inspect change events for a single device and how to review configuration-level changes across the site.

Prerequisites

  • Change Tracking is enabled for the site, and the categories you want to inspect have sub-attribute checkboxes ticked. See How to Enable Change Tracking.
  • At least one audit cycle has run since you enabled tracking, so there is data to compare.

Steps

View per-device change history

  1. Open Inventory and select the device whose history you want to inspect.

  2. On the device form, switch to the Change history tab.

  3. Read the grid columns:

    • Date — when the change was detected.
    • Type — the change type.
    • Category — one of the seven tracking categories.
    • Attribute — the field that changed.
    • Old value — value from the prior audit snapshot.
    • New value — value from the most recent audit snapshot.
  4. Use column filters or sort to narrow the view, the same way you use other Inventory grids.

Note: If the tab reads "No data to display" after you expected changes, confirm that the master toggle is ON and that the relevant sub-attribute is ticked under the matching category. See the troubleshooting tips in About Change Tracking.

View site-wide configuration changes

  1. Open Admin Center > Site Settings > Logs > Change log.
  2. Read the grid columns:

    • Object — the entity that changed (Site, User, Segment, Report, Tag, Notification template, and others).
    • Entity — name of the specific record.
    • Change — colored verb: Added, Modified, or Deleted.
    • User — who made the change.
    • The eye icon opens a detail popup with the before/after detail for the row.
  3. Apply column filters to scope the log to a specific entity type, user, or change verb.

Note: A global Change log is also available under Admin Center > App management > Logs > Change log. The global view adds a Site column so you can attribute each row to a specific site in the instance.

Verify

  • Each row in the device Change history tab maps to an attribute you ticked under one of the seven categories.
  • Each row in Change log maps to a configuration action performed somewhere in the site.
