How to create a custom view

This guide shows you how to build, save, and reuse a custom data grid view by choosing columns, filtering and grouping rows, and saving the layout for later use. Available customization options vary by grid; Inventory provides the most complete set.

Saved views are available to all users of the Site. Users and Administrators can manage saved views, including views created by other site users.

Prerequisites

  • You have access to a grid that supports saved views and the Customize View panel.

Steps

Open the Customize View panel

  1. Open the grid you want to customize. For example, navigate to Inventory > <device type>.
  2. Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the grid toolbar to open the Customize View side panel.
  3. Review the available tabs. Inventory grids include Columns, Filter, and Conditional formatting; other grids may offer a smaller set.

Choose columns

  1. Open the Columns tab.
  2. Tick or untick checkboxes to add or remove columns.
  3. Drag column entries to reorder them.

Filter rows

  1. Open the Filter tab.
  2. Click + Add filter and pick a field and an operator.
  3. Enter a static value, or click the two-arrow compare button to choose another field as the comparison value.
  4. To add another condition, click And or Or, depending on how the new condition should relate to the existing one.

For example, in Inventory grids that include Windows computers, select Event logs Collection to filter computers by properties of collected Windows events. In the Event logs filter group, choose how matching records are evaluated, then select an event field, an operator, and a value. Use Add condition to match additional properties of the same event record.

The collection is available for filtering only and cannot be added as a grid column.

Group rows

  1. On the Columns tab, locate the Group By drop zone — a "Drag a field here to group records" target.
  2. Drag a field name into the zone to group rows by that field. Grouped rows can be expanded with the ▸ caret.

Save the view

  1. With the panel open and your customizations in place, click Save As at the bottom of the panel.
  2. Enter a name for the view.
  3. Click Save.

Apply or switch views

  1. Use the Default View ▼ dropdown at the top-left of the grid to switch between saved views.
  2. To update an existing view in place, open the Customize View panel, make your edits, and click Save (without "As").

Manage saved views

  1. Open the Default View ▼ dropdown.
  2. Open the options menu for a saved view.
  3. Select Rename, Hide, Save As, Export view, or Delete.

Renaming or hiding a view affects all users of the Site. Export view does not change the saved view.

When at least one view is hidden, the Show hidden views toggle appears at the bottom of the dropdown. Its presence indicates that some views are currently excluded from the list. Turn on the toggle to display them. To restore a hidden view for all users, open its options menu and select Unhide.

IMPORTANT: Deleting a saved view removes it for all users of the Site.

Verify

After saving, you should see:

  • The new view name listed in the Default View ▼ dropdown.
  • The grid reload in the configured state when you select the view.
  • The saved view is available to other site users from the view dropdown.
