Data sources

When creating a chart, AlloyScan asks you to select a data source. Sources are grouped by AlloyScan data area.

Group Example sources

AWS Resources, EC2 instances, Database instance, Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), Load balancers, Network interfaces, Security groups, Subnets, S3 buckets, Virtual private clouds, Zones, Key pairs
Azure Resources, Virtual machine instances, Virtual networks, Public IPs, Network interfaces, Load balancers, Application gateways, Security groups, Resource groups, Subscriptions, Volumes

Chart builder

After you select a source and click Next, AlloyScan opens the chart builder. The left pane shows a live preview. The right pane shows Chart Settings.

Opening an existing Analytics chart uses the same builder layout. The chart opens with its saved configuration already applied. Use Save to save changes to the current chart, or Save As to create another chart from the current configuration.

Tab Controls
General Required name, chart type, available properties, data fields, Group By (X-axis), and Metric (Y-axis)
Filter Embedded chart filters. Use Add filter, search for a property, and select the property to filter by.
Options Color palette, custom colors, display options, and axis labels

The bar above the preview contains runtime filters and view-mode controls. Runtime filters usually include an audit-date filter with a period selector, and you can add more runtime filters for fields from the selected source.

Add filter Adds a runtime filter for the current view. Runtime filters refine the open chart without changing its saved embedded filters.
Visualization Shows the chart visualization.
Summarized data Shows the grouped result behind the chart, such as one row per manufacturer with a count of records.
Raw data Shows the underlying records returned by the chart source and current filters.
Export Exports the current mode. Export options change when you switch between Visualization, Summarized data, and Raw data.

Export options

Current mode Export options
Visualization Chart (PDF), Chart (PNG)
Summarized data Summarized data (CSV), Summarized data (CSV, raw), Summarized data (JSON)

Dashboard widgets

Saved Analytics charts can be added to dashboards as Analytics widgets. Dashboard placement is managed from Dashboard edit mode, not from the Analytics chart builder.

Constraints

  • Save is disabled until the required chart name is set.
  • The chart preview updates continuously as settings change.
  • Add Analytics widgets to dashboards from Dashboard edit mode.
