Preview: This feature is in preview and subject to change.
Use a Google Directory segment when you want AlloyScan to discover and audit ChromeOS and Chromebook devices through Google Admin Directory.
INFO: Google Directory credentials are used to securely access and audit ChromeOS devices through the Google Workspace Admin SDK Directory API.
Prerequisites
- Site Administrator role.
- An Audit Service that can run the provider-specific audit task.
- A Google Directory credential with the required fields:
- Client email
- Private key
- Delegated admin email
- Optional Customer ID
Steps
- Navigate to Network > Segments.
- Click + New segment.
- On the Segment type page, select Google Directory and click Next.
- In Step 1 - Select or install audit service, pick an Audit Service to run the audit.
- In Step 2 - Google Directory, review the automatically generated segment name and change it if needed. Then select the Chromebooks resource.
- In Step 3 - Cloud credentials, turn on the Google Directory credential section, click Add, and enter or upload the Google Directory credential details.
- In Step 4 - Scan schedule, choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly, or continue without a schedule.
- In Step 5, review the summary and finish the segment setup.
Verify
After saving, the new segment appears in Network > Segments with the Google Directory type icon.
- Open the segment.
- Click Scan to discover Chromebook devices.
- Review the Scan Results grid. Chromebook scan results behave like other devices and typically appear as Ready for audit.
- Select the discovered Chromebooks and click Audit.
- Open Inventory and check the Chromebooks tile for the audited devices.
- Open a Chromebook device to review its General and Details tabs.
Note: Google Directory is a separate segment type from Google Cloud Platform. Use the Google Cloud Platform segment workflow for Google Cloud Platform resources.
