Grid Controls Reference

AlloyScan list pages use a common grid pattern for Inventory, Software, Network, Analytics, and many Admin Center pages.

This reference explains the controls that appear across those grids. Individual modules may hide controls that do not apply to their data.

Common toolbar controls

Control Purpose
View selector Switch between saved views such as Default View and custom views.
Type or sub-view selector Switch a grid's logical view, such as Software by name vs by name and version.
Action buttons Run actions supported by the current grid, such as Audit, Schedule, Tag, Delete, Upload, or Change history.
Export Export all rows, or selected rows where selection is available, to CSV or XLSX.
Filter items Search within the loaded grid rows.
More menu Show or hide the grouping box and select the row density.
Settings / gear Open the Customize View panel for columns, filters, formatting, fields, and grouping.
Pagination controls Move between pages of loaded rows.

Inventory device grids also provide commands for exporting audit snapshots for selected devices and importing snapshots from JSON. Snapshot transfer works with complete audited device data rather than tabular grid rows. See How to export and import audit snapshots.

Sort and filter columns

Use a column heading to sort the grid. An arrow next to the column name indicates the current sort direction.

To filter a column, select Filter in the column heading, choose the values or criteria to include, and select Apply. The available options depend on the column. To remove the column filter, select Clear all.

Column filters are saved as part of the active view. Filter items is a separate control that searches the rows loaded in the current grid.

Customize View panel

The tabs in the Customize View panel depend on the grid. Inventory provides the most complete version, which includes:

  • Columns — choose, add, and reorder visible fields, and configure grouping
  • Filter — build column-based filters
  • Conditional formatting — highlight rows based on values

On the Columns tab, use + More to add fields that are not currently listed. Other grids may provide fewer tabs or options.

Inventory example: Collection fields

Collection fields let you filter a device by properties of related records, such as services, network adapters, or Windows events.

In Inventory grids that include Windows computers, select Event logs Collection on the Filter tab to find computers with matching Windows events. The Event logs filter group lets you combine multiple conditions for the same event record. The collection is available for filtering only and cannot be added as a grid column.

Saved views

Use saved views when you need to reuse a column, filter, sort, or grouping setup.

  • Saved views are available to all users of the Site.
  • Users and Administrators can create and manage saved views, including views created by other site users.
  • The options menu for a saved view provides Rename, Hide, Save As, Export view, and Delete actions.
  • Renaming, hiding, or deleting a view affects all users of the Site. Export view does not change the saved view.
  • When at least one view is hidden, the Show hidden views toggle appears at the bottom of the dropdown. Turn it on to display hidden views and access the Unhide action.

Grouping

To group rows directly in a grid, open the More menu and select Group by box to show the grouping area, then drag a column heading into the box. Grouped rows can be expanded and collapsed. You can also configure grouping in the Columns tab of the Customize View panel.

Row density

Open the More menu and select Comfort, Compact, or Condensed to change the row density.

Inventory example: Audit schedule indicator

Audit schedule status uses an exception-only indicator in Inventory grids. A red crossed schedule indicator appears beside a device name only when the device has no Audit schedule. Hover over the indicator to see Not scheduled. No schedule indicator is displayed when an Audit schedule is assigned.

To assign a schedule, see How to manage audit schedules.

1000-row cap and Load all

Large grids load the top 1000 records by default. When the cap applies, AlloyScan shows a banner explaining that grouping and column filters apply only to the loaded subset.

Use Load all only when you need to work with the complete result set. Loading all rows can be slower on large Sites.
