Managing dashboards widgets

Introduced in 2026

Dashboard widgets are created and managed directly from dashboards. Depending on your permissions, you can create widgets, edit widget settings, control sharing, and use widgets across multiple dashboards.

INFO: For widget types, descriptions, and examples, see Dashboard widgets.

Open the widget library

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

    The widget library opens.

  3. Use the search field to filter widgets by name. Use the category drop-down list to browse widgets by type.

Add a widget to a dashboard

  1. Open the widget library.

  2. Find the widget you want to use.

Only widgets shared with you are available in the widget library.

  3. Add the widget to the dashboard.

Edit a widget

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

    The widget library opens.

  3. Find the widget on the dashboard or in the widget library.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Update the widget settings and save your changes.

Changes are applied everywhere the widget is used.

Create a widget

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner

  3. Click Actions (three dots) at the top.

  4. Select New Widget > [Widget Type].

Configuration steps depend on the selected widget type. For detailed instructions, see:

Share a widget

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

  3. Find the widget and click Edit.

  4. Open the Sharing tab.

  5. Select who can access the widget:

    • Only me: Keeps the widget private and visible only to you.

    • Everyone: Makes the widget visible to all users.

    • Specific people or groups: Shares the widget with selected users and/or groups.

  6. Save your changes.

Only users with access to a widget can add it to dashboards or view its content.

IMPORTANT: Widget sharing is independent from dashboard sharing. Users can only view widget content if the widget itself is shared with them, even when they already have access to the dashboard containing the widget. Widgets that are not shared with a user appear as unavailable panels on the dashboard.

See where a widget is used

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

  3. Find the widget and click Edit.

  4. Open the Dashboards tab.

The tab lists all dashboards that currently use the widget.

Export or import a widget configuration

Widgets can be exported and imported as JSON configuration files, typically for support, troubleshooting, backup, or transferring widget configurations between environments.

To export a widget configuration:

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

  3. Find the widget.

  4. Open Actions (three dots) next to the widget name and select Export.

To import a widget configuration:

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

  3. Open Actions (three dots) at the top of the Customize Dashboard pane.

  4. Select New Widget > Import from file] and browse to the file.

Delete a widget permanently

Removing a widget from a dashboard does not delete the widget itself. The widget remains available in the widget library and can still be used on other dashboards.

To permanently delete a widget:

  1. Open a dashboard.

  2. Click Customize Dashboard in the upper-right corner.

  3. Find the widget.

  4. Open Actions (three dots) next to the widget name.

  5. Select Delete permanently.
