Error Log

In the Logs > All Errors > Error Log section, you can view errors and failures reported by Alloy Navigator Express components.

ClosedAlloy Navigator Express supports the following categories of Error Log events:

  • Failure to connect to the mail server — errors logged by the Automation Server when it fails to connect to the outgoing mail server. For details, see Configuring outgoing e-mail.

  • Failure to execute job — errors logged by the Automation Server when it fails to execute a job. For details, see Managing all Automation Server jobs.

  • Failure to execute workflow item — errors reported when any workflow item fails to execute. For details, see Workflow management.

  • Failure to import data — errors logged by the Import tool when it fails to import data to the Alloy Navigator Express database. For details, see the Import tool.

  • Failure to load audit snapshots — errors logged by the Network Inventory Connector when it fails to import audit snapshots from Network Inventory. For details, see Configuring inventory data mapping.

  • Failure to run report — errors logged by the Automation Server when it fails to run a Reporting job. For details, see Scheduling reports.

  • Failure to send notification — errors reported by the Automation Server when it fails to send out e-mail messages from the Notification Queue. For details, see Working with the Notification Queue Manager.

  • Failure to synchronize AD — errors reported by the Active Directory Import tool when it fails to import data from the Active Directory. For details, see Integration with Active Directory.

  • General — other errors.

NOTE: If the Automation Server fails to connect to the mail server, it fails to send out administrative alerts, as well as other messages in the Notification Queue. In order to prevent repetitive “Failure to send notification” alerts on failed alerts, administrative alerts are marked as system in the queue. Alloy Navigator Express does not generate “Failure to send notification” alerts on system notifications.

By default, two data views are available:

  • All Time - displays all errors and failures that the Error Log contains

  • Last 7 days - displays errors and failures reported for the last 7 days

You can switch between views using the View: [View Name] list on the Module menu. You can also customize the default views using the standard Customize View window and save your customizations as your own custom views that will display the log data exactly as you need.
