Managing dashboards
Dashboards in Alloy Navigator provide users with various data using informative panels, which are called widgets. There are many types of widgets: Chart, Table, Links, etc. All widgets are shared, so you can create a widget once and use it in multiple dashboards.
NOTE: For details on widgets and their types, see Managing widgets and Widget types.
Dashboards are available to Desktop App and Web App users. As the administrator, you can customize the technicians' dashboards depending on their responsibilities and role in the IT department. Typically, you configure multiple different dashboards and assign each dashboard to appropriate groups of users through security roles.
NOTE: When multiple dashboards are available to a user due to his/her membership in security roles, the user is able to switch between these dashboards in the Desktop App or the Web App.
When creating or modifying a dashboard, you specify a set of default widgets, which will be displayed within the dashboard by default, and a wider set of widgets potentially available in the dashboard. Desktop App users will be able to replace the default widgets with any of the available ones, as well as customize their position within a dashboard.
NOTE: Currently, dashboard customization is not available in the Web App.
The location of each widget on the dashboard is determined by its position in a dashboard layout. A dashboard layout is a grid of cells, i.e. a combination of rows and columns. Each dashboard has its own layout that you specify when creating or modifying a dashboard. Additionally, you can create reusable layouts, which can be quickly applied to any dashboard.
You can manage dashboards in the General > Dashboard Management > Dashboards section as follows:
Under the dashboard list, the Roles for [Dashboard Name] section displays all security roles. The green ball indicates that the selected dashboard is assigned to this role, the red ball indicates that the selected dashboard is not assigned to this role.
