Tagging list items

You can tag drop-down list items, including items of UDFs of the Lookup type (see Types of user-defined fields). Tagging items allows you to filter drop-down list values within a workflow Form (for details, see Form Field window and Configuring Forms).

The Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, which contains classification lists used by a particular object class, allows you to perform the following operations with tags:

  • ClosedTo tag list items:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, open the subsection corresponding to the necessary classification list.

    2. Double-click the item to tag, the item window opens.

    3. Under Tags, click the Manage button. In the Edit Tags window, click Tags > New on the Module menu. The Add Tag window opens.

      NOTE: For details on selecting multiple items, see Selecting multiple records.

    4. Type in the tag value and click OK. Your list items are tagged, and you can view their tag in the Tags column.

    You can assign multiple tags to the same list item or set of items. Each tag will be enclosed in curly brackets.

      TIP: You can also copy tags from a source item and then paste them to target items. For details, see To copy tags from a list item.

  • ClosedTo rename tags:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, open the subsection corresponding to the necessary classification list.

    2. Select the items whose tag to rename and click Tags > Rename from the Module menu. The Rename Tag window opens..

      NOTE: For details on selecting multiple items, see Selecting multiple records.

    1. In the Tag list, select the tag to rename and type in its new value in the New Value field.

    2. Click OK. The selected items are tagged with the new tag value.

  • ClosedTo copy tags from a list item:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, open the subsection corresponding to the necessary classification list.

    2. Select the item whose tags to copy and click Tags > Copy on the Module menu. If the item has multiple tags, all of them are copied.

    3. Navigate to the lookup list where you want to paste the copied tags.

    4. TIP: You can paste tags to items of any lookup list for any Alloy Navigator object class.

    5. Select one or multiple target list items where to paste the copied tags and click Tags > Paste on the Module menu.

  • ClosedTo modify tags of a list item:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, open the subsection corresponding to the necessary classification list.

    2. Double-click the item you want to tag. The [Object Class] [Drop-down List] window opens.

    3. Under Tags, click Manage. The Edit Tags window opens.

    4. Use the New, Edit, and Delete buttons to create a list of item tags.

    5. Click OK to close the Edit Tags window.

    6. In the [Object Class] [Drop-down List] window, click OK to save your changes.

  • ClosedTo remove a tag:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Classification section, open the subsection corresponding to the necessary classification list.

    2. Select the items from which you want to remove a tag and click Tags > Delete on the Module menu. The Select Tag window opens.

      NOTE: For details on selecting multiple items, see Selecting multiple records.

    1. Select the tag to remove and click OK.

      TIP: When your items have multiple tags assigned, this operation removes only a single selected tag. For instructions on removing all assigned tags at once, see To clear items of all tags.
