Migration Process

Perform the following steps to upgrade:

  1. Install Alloy the Navigator 8 Suite
    1. Install Server Components of Alloy Discovery 8
    2. Install Server Components of Alloy Navigator 8
    3. Create a Pilot Alloy Navigator 8 Database
    4. Activate Alloy Navigator8
    5. Install and Configure the Mobile App Service 8
    6. Install and Configure the Self Service Portal 8
    7. Install and Configure the Web App 8
    8. Install and Configure the API Module 8
  2. Configure Your Pilot Alloy Navigator 8 Suite
    1. Start Your Alloy Automation Server 8
    2. Review Your Pilot Alloy Navigator 8 Database
    3. Customize New Workflow
    4. Optional: Update Alloy Navigator 8 Pilot Data
  3. Deactivate Alloy Navigator Express
    1. Stop the Automation Server of Alloy Navigator Express
    2. Force Users to Log Off
    3. Uninstall Alloy Navigator Express Web Services of the Previous Version
  4. Move the Alloy Navigator 8 Suite to Production
    1. Stop the Automation Server of Alloy Navigator 8
    2. Upgrade the Production Alloy Discovery Database
    3. Activate Alloy Discovery 8
    4. Move to Production
    5. Reconfigure Alloy Navigator Express Web Services for Production Database and Production URLs
    6. Optional: Redirect Your Mail Connector to the Support Mailbox
    7. Delete Test Notifications and Resume the Notification Queue
    8. Start Your Alloy Automation Server 8 and Alloy Inventory Server 8
    9. Upgrade Client Components for Technicians
  5. Perform Additional Steps
    1. Optional: Uninstall the Previous Version of Alloy Navigator Express
    2. Optional: Remove Unneeded SQL Server Login Accounts
