Settings App

Version 2024

The Alloy Discovery's Settings App allows you to configure the various characteristics that determine Alloy Discovery’s behavior. Here, you’ll also find settings that you can customize to tailor Alloy Discovery to the particular needs of your organization.

Launching your Settings

There are several ways to access the Settings App:

Logging in to Settings

The Settings App, just like the Desktop App and the Inventory Server, accesses the database using the Database Access Key. Your unique key is generated automatically when the Alloy Software team or your administrator creates the Alloy Discovery database. Before you log in to Settings for the first time, you need to import that key to your local computer.

You may receive your Database Access Key as a standalone .reg file or as a long encoded string of characters. The delivery method depends on your product solution:

  • Our on-premises customers obtain the Database Access Key from their Alloy Discovery administrator, who is responsible for creating and upgrading the database. For details, see Database Access Key Distribution

  • Cloud customers of Alloy Navigator Enterprise obtain the Database Access Key through the Alloy Support Portal or in their welcome e-mail message. Typically, the key is delivered in a zipped .reg file. For example: AlloyDiscoveryKey.zip.

To import the Database Access Key, use the Connection Manager. For detailed instructions on how to import the key, see Importing the Database Access Key.

For Alloy Navigator Cloud (SaaS): We recommend that our cloud customers change the password the first time they log in to Settings. For details, see Changing password.

Once you have your Database Access Key imported, you can use your Alloy Discovery credentials to log in to Settings.

INFO: For more details logging in, see Logging in to Alloy Discovery.
