On-prem only

Updated in 2024.2

IMPORTANT Starting with version 2024.2, these customization options are now available exclusively in the web-based Admin Center. For detailed instructions, see Admin Center Help.

Choose user authentication method for Web App or Self Service Portal users.

NOTE: This page describes authentication methods for Alloy web applications (the Web App and Self Service Portal). For details about authentication methods for the API, see Authentication Method (for API).

  • Windows Authentication

Windows native authentication works only inside the same Windows domain network. Users will not need to enter their username and password to sign in to the Alloy web application because the system will automatically authenticate them with their current Windows credentials.

  • Standard Authentication

Standard authentication can be used in any network. Users will need to provide their username and password to sign in to the Alloy web application. Standard authentication method supports the following authentication types for Alloy web app users:

    • Standard authentication:

To enable Standard authentication, choose Standard Authentication and leave the Alloy password authentication check box selected. Users will sign in to the web app by providing their username and password.

    • Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication:

To enable SSO authentication, choose Standard Authentication and then select the desired SSO providers under Available Single Sign-On services. SSO services must be previously configured in the Settings App as "SSO Provider records." For details, see Managing single sign-on (SSO) providers.

To allow users to sign in by entering their password, leave the Alloy password authentication check box selected. Note that the password authentication must also be enabled in their user accounts.

    • LDAP authentication:

To enable LDAP authentication, choose Standard Authentication. LDAPĀ authentication requires that corresponding Domain Credentials records are configured in Alloy Navigator Express:

Users will sign in by providing their username (as DOMAIN\username) and password.
