Adding Configuration Items

The methods for creating Configuration Items are the same as for the object records of any class. For details, see Adding records.

In addition, Computers and Hardware and can be automatically created as follows:

• The Alloy Discovery Synchronization tool allows you to auto-add Computer and Hardware records from the audit data collected by Alloy Discovery. For details, see Auto-creating Computers from the audit data and Auto-creating Hardware records from the audit data.

• Alloy Navigator can create Computer and Hardware records automatically when you manually "receive" computers or hardware devices from a Purchase Order. For details, see Receiving PO Items.

You can edit these auto-created records. If there is more than one record for same Computer or Hardware record, you can merge these records. For details, see Merging Computer records and Merging Hardware records.
