Field Mapping window

Use the Field Mapping window to define the mapping rule that defines how the source data attribute corresponds to the Alloy Navigator object fields

  • Object Field - indicates that the destination field is a physical field of the Alloy Navigator object:

    • Name - the name of the physical object field.

    • For Update Action field mapping:

Replacement Mode - specifies the condition when the service attribute replaces the Alloy Navigator object field value:

      • Always - the service attribute always replaces the object field regardless of its value.

      • When Target is empty - the service attribute populates the object field only when the object field is blank.

      • When Source has value - the service attribute populates the object field only when the service attribute is not blank. This mode prevents the appearance of null values in the database.

  • Virtual Field - indicates that the destination field is virtual. Virtual fields are used for passing their values to other workflow components.

  • Under Service Attribute, you select the source service attribute from which to import the data:

    • Name - the name of the service attribute. For each service, the drop-down list contains an individual set of attributes:

      • Active Directory Import - You can choose any Active Directory attribute such as givenName or telephoneNumber. The list depends on the Action’s target object class (Person, Organization, or Location) and matches the data type of the specified object field.

IMPORTANT: When your job imports user information from a directory service other than Microsoft Active Directory, you will need to manually modify the Active Directory attributes so they match user attributes in your directory service. For example, see user attributes available in JumpCloud.

NOTE: If you want to import person pictures from the thumnailPhoto attribute, note that the Active Directory Synchronization supports only JPEG, PNG, and BMP image formats.

NOTE: For details on Active Directory attributes, see the ”Attributes” section in the ”Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services Schema” article in the MSDN Library at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc221082.aspx.

In addition to Active Directory attributes, the list also contains some pseudo attributes.

      • Manager (Link to Person) - this pseudo attribute allows you to import the link to the user's manager from the Active Directory.

      • memberOf (raw) - this pseudo attribute contains the original, unmodified content of the memberOf Active Directory attribute (unlike the memberOf service attribute, which contains a comma separated list of group names).

      • Mail Connector - Depending on the data type of the specified object field, you can choose the message Content or any common e-mail header field such as From or Subject. You can select a non-standard Priority field, which is a string that can have Low, Normal, or High value. The Priority field aggregation value is a result of several e-mail header values: (Importance, X-Priority, and X-MSMail-Priority) which are commonly used by most popular e-mail clients to indicate the importance of the message to the receiver. You can also use a logical Auto-Generated field ( True or False). Its value is set to True, when a message contains one of the specific e-mail headers, such as X-Autogenerated, List-Unsubscribe, List-Id, Feedback-ID, etc. This attribute can be used to define workflow behavior based on the received e-mail message (e.g. "Create Work Order (Mail Connector)" Action #143).

In addition, the list of Mail Connector service attributes contains the ObjectRef and InactiveObjectRef system e-mail virtual fields, as well as other e-mail virtual fields from your parsing rules. For details, see Configuring parsing rules.

      • Alloy Discovery Connector - You can select any Alloy Discovery field, which matches the data type of the specified Alloy Navigator object field. To retrieve the list of Alloy Discovery Connector service attributes, you will be prompted to login into Alloy Discovery after clicking the Name list. For details on Alloy Discovery fields, see Alloy Discovery documentation shipped with Alloy Discovery 2024.
