Update the bot configuration in Alloy Navigator
Introduced in 8.7.3
Updated in 2022.1
The Alloy Self-Service Assistant bot configuration is an XML document stored in the Alloy Navigator database. The configuration controls how the bot interacts with Alloy Navigator. Our documentation always describes and includes the most recent configuration version. This article helps you decide whether you need to update to the newest version and gives instructions on how to update it.
INFO: For the bot configuration description and the download link, see Customize the bot configuration in Alloy Navigator.
APPLIES TO: Alloy Navigator Enterprise 2021 and earlier. Started with version 2022, the bot configuration comes with Alloy Navigator, so you do not have to download or import any files.
If you have the previous bot configuration imported, follow this simple rule to decide whether to update your existing configuration:
If you don't need the new functionality, continue with your existing bot configuration.
If you want to leverage the new functionality, update your bot configuration as described below.
If you decided to update your Teams bot configuration, take the following steps.
Back up your existing configuration.
In Settings App, go to Services > Mobile Applications, right-click TeamsBot and select Export Selected Settings to export your existing Teams bot configuration to an XML file.
For details, see Administration Guide: Exporting configuration settings.
Delete your existing bot configuration from the Alloy Navigator database.
In Settings App, select the TeamsBot item under Services > Mobile Applications and click Delete on the Standard toolbar.
Download the newest bot configuration and import it to Alloy Navigator.
For instructions, see Import the configuration to Alloy Navigator.
Customize the newest configuration.
In Settings App, go to Services > Mobile Applications > TeamsBot and redo the customizations you had in the previous version (use your backup XML file as the data source). Then make other changes to use the new functionality.
Namely, you must replace an example URL with your Self Service Portal's actual address. Other changes are optional.
For details, see Customize the configuration in Alloy Navigator.
