Server machine requirements

On-prem only

Updated in 2024.2

Server computer Requirements for a server computer hosting Alloy Navigator vary based on the size of your organization. This page outlines the minimum requirements for a server computer in a single-machine deployment and provides recommendations for other deployment scenarios.

Minimum server requirements

When hosting all components on a single machine, the minimum requirements for 10-15 technicians and 1,500 computers would be as follows:

Component Minimum Requirement

CPU

2.5 GHz Quad-Core

RAM

8 GB

Free hard disk space

20 GB

OS

Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022.

Only 64-bit versions of Windows are supported.

For additional requirements, see Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.

NOTE: For testing and evaluation purposes, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11 are supported.

IIS

IIS 7.5 or later.

For details, see Internet Information Services (IIS) requirements.

Recommended server requirements

Actual requirements will vary based on a variety of factors such as number of technicians, number of network devices, frequency of audit schedule, amount of end-user ticket submissions, and more.

A rough rule of thumb is that for every additional 500 computers and grouping of 5 technicians we recommend adding 1 GB of RAM and 5 GB of free hard disk space.

Additionally, the software’s components such as the Automation Server, Inventory Server(s), web applications (the Web App, Self Service Portal, and the API module), and SQL Server can be installed on separate machines as needed. This will reduce machine requirements.

Time zone configuration recommendations

When hosting SQL Server and IIS on separate machines, it's crucial to ensure that both the database server and web server are configured to operate in the same system time zone. This alignment is necessary to prevent any discrepancies in the processing of date and time information within Alloy Navigator. Failure to synchronize the timezones may lead to inaccuracies and disruptions in system functionality.
