Configuring Personal Work Calendars

A technician’s personal work calendar is defined by a combination of the corporate work calendar for that technician and his or her individual list of personal events.

NOTE: If your organization supports multiple corporate work calendars, you choose a work calendar for each technician on the General tab (Technician sub-tab) of the Person dialog box. For details, see Administration Guide: Setting Up Work Calendars.

When you set up Alloy Navigator, review the list of personal event categories and customize them as needed using the Settings.

INFO: For details, see Administration Guide: Managing Personal Event Categories.

When the list of personal events is ready, technicians can schedule their personal events using My Calendar, as illustrated below.

IMPORTANT: In order to manage their personal events, technicians must have the Modify Own Work Time permission on Person objects. The ability to manage personal events for other technicians requires the Modify Work Time for All permission. For details, see Administration Guide: Understanding Security Roles.

Besides personal events and official holidays, My Calendar displays various important dates for the current user, such as due dates for Service Desk Tickets, expiration dates of Software Licenses and Contacts, or return dates for leased Computers. To access My Calendar in the Desktop App, select Go > My Calendar from the main menu.

INFO: For instructions on scheduling personal events using My Calendar, see Help: My Calendar.

Technicians can also schedule their personal events using the Task Management Calendar. These personal events affect the availability of technicians and allow you to distribute the workload more efficiently.

INFO: For instructions on scheduling personal events using the Task Management Calendar, see Web App: Task Management Calendar or Desktop App: Task Management Calendar.
