Customizing detail report layouts
To customize reports, you need Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (or later) Report Builder (for details, see Supported formats and required software):
Customizing detail reports from outside of Alloy Navigator Express
Typically, you save the layout of a detail report to an external report file, make your changes using the appropriate designer tool, and then replace the report with the customized report file.
To customize a detail report layout:
-
Open the details window for any object of the target class.
-
On the Module menu, choose Print > Manage Reports. The Manage Reports windows appears.
-
Save the layout of your report to a report file:
-
Right-click the report and choose Save As from the pop-up menu.
-
Browse for the destination folder where you want to save the file. By default, the file name is the same as the report name. If you want to change it, type in a new name in the File name field.
-
Click Save.
-
Open the saved report file in your report designer tool and modify the report layout as needed. For details, see Specific requirements for detail reports and your reporting software documentation.
-
Save your changes.
-
In Alloy Navigator Express, go back to the Manage Reports window and replace the report with your report file:
-
Right-click the report and choose Replace from the pop-up menu.
-
Select the source report file and click Open.
