Deleting records

Unless you have a specific reason to permanently remove a record from the database, consider changing its status instead. For example, instead of removing an Asset, you can mark it as retired.

Records with these statuses can be excluded from views and workflows through filtering and workflow customization configured by your Alloy Navigator Express administrator. For details, see Using the Advanced Filter and Workflow Management.

To manually delete one or more records:

  1. Select the records to delete.

  2. Click the Delete button on the Module menu or press DELETE on your keyboard.

Alternatively, you can you can select the records in the grid, right-click the selection, and select Delete Selected Item(s) from the pop-up menu.

NOTE: Some records can be deleted even when dependencies exist, while others cannot. If Alloy Navigator displays a message stating that the record is referenced by other objects, use Show Dependencies to identify and handle those references before trying again. For details, see Showing Dependencies.
