Automating the Network Folder Audit
After you have created a Network Audit Source and deployed the Inventory Analyzer package to the network share, you need to automate the audit to produce snapshots on a regular basis.
There are two main scenarios for automating the audit on Windows:
-
Windows domain networks. For details, see Automating the Network Folder Audit on Domains.
-
Windows non-domain networks. For details, see Automating the Network Folder Audit on Windows Non-Domain Networks.
For networked computers running Linux or Mac OS, you can run the Linux or Mac Inventory Analyzer from a Windows share. For details, see Running Linux or Mac Inventory Analyzers from a Windows Share.
You can also schedule the Linux or Mac Inventory Analyzer using a time-based scheduling service such as the cron
daemon. For details, see Scheduling the Audit on Linux and Mac Machines.
