Alloy Navigator uses e-mail notifications to communicate information about workflow-related events to users. The majority of those notifications contain direct links to objects in a specific web application. For example, when an automated e-mail invites Self Service Portal customers to participate in a customer satisfaction survey, that e-mail includes a direct link to the resolved
Alloy Navigator's default workflow pack uses three system macros for generating direct links to objects in e-mail notifications:

Web App Link: Inserts the URL of your Web App.

Self Service Portal Link: Inserts the URL of your Self Service Portal.

API Link - inserts the URL of your API.
By default, all these macros expand to an empty value. Before you start the production use of web applications, you must specify the actual links to your Web App, Self Service Portal, and the API module.
Use the Workflow Integration page of the Web Configuration tool to assign a value to the direct link macro. You have these options:

Keep the macro's current value - this leaves the macro's current value in the database unchanged. Initially, the direct link macro contains an empty value. If you choose to keep it, you will have to run the Web Configuration tool later to customize the macro. Otherwise, direct links to objects in e-mail notifications will not work.

Replace the macro's value with the suggested URL - the Web Configuration tool suggests the web application's URL based on your current settings. This option is the best choice when the web application is to be accessed only over the local network.

Replace the macro's value with a custom URL - this option allows you to manually specify the actual URL of the service. Choose this option when the web application is to be accessed over the Internet.
NOTE: You can skip this step, complete the configuration, and then run the Web Configuration tool again to replace the macro's content with the actual URL.
