Working with Announcements

IMPORTANT: This page describes a feature from the Desktop App, which was removed in Fall 2025. See how this feature is enhanced in the Web App

You can create, view, edit, or delete Announcements from the Announcements data grid. To access this grid, select either Service Desk > Announcements in the Sidebar, or Go > Announcements from the main menu.

NOTE: Along with ability to open Announcements from the Announcements grid, you can also open them in the read-only mode from the dashboard (when it displays an Announcements widget). For details, see Viewing Announcements.

• To add an Announcement:

  1. Click New > [Announcement type] on the Module menu. The Announcement window opens.

  2. Specify the Announcement details and click OK.

• To edit an Announcement:

  1. Open an Announcement for editing using one of the following methods:

  • Select the Announcement in the Announcements grid and double-click it.

  • If the Announcement is already open in the View mode, click Edit on the Module menu.

  2. In the Announcement window, change the details as needed and click OK.

  NOTE: If your security permissions in the Alloy Navigator database do not allow you to edit the Announcements, only the View mode will be available.

• To delete an Announcement:

  • Select the Announcement and click the Delete icon on the Module menu.

When you open an Announcement record for editing, the Announcement window displays information in the top pane and a number of tabs.

NOTE: If your security permissions in the Alloy Navigator database do not allow you to edit the Announcements, only the View mode will be available.

The top pane of the Announcement window displays the ID, status, and title of the Announcement.

Below the following tabs are available:

• General tab

• Activity tab

• Custom Data tab (optional)

• Relationships tab

• Notes tab

• Attachments tab

• History tab
