Viewing Announcements

You open Announcements for viewing from the Announcements widget, the Announcements grid or using the Edit mode of the Announcement window:

  • ClosedTo view an Announcement using the Announcements widget:

    When the dashboard displayed on your dashboard contains an Announcements widget, you are able to view the list of Announcement records corresponding to the current date. Each item in the list displays the date of an Announcement (when it is specified), an Announcement's title, and the beginning of its text.

    NOTE: High priority Announcements are displayed first in the list and are marked red.

    • Click the Announcement preview in the widget. This opens the Announcement window displaying main properties of the Announcement in the read-only mode. For details, see Working with dashboards.

  • ClosedTo view an Announcement using the Announcements grid:

    • To open the Announcement from the grid, double-click it. Alternatively, you can use the pop-up menu

    • The Announcement opens in the Edit mode, click View on the Module menu to switch to the View mode.

In the View mode, the Module menu of the Announcement window allows you to edit the Announcement by clicking Edit. You can also print out details of the opened Announcement by clicking Print.

NOTE: If your security permissions in the Alloy Navigator database only allows you to view the Announcements, the Edit mode will be unavailable.

The View mode of the Announcement window contains the following tabs:

General tab

The upper section of the General tab displays the date of creation of the announcement and the name of the user who created it.

Below you can see the full text of the Announcement, followed by the Attachments section, which displays the list of links to files that were attached to the Announcement and descriptions of these files. Clicking the link to an attached file opens it in the appropriate application.

NOTE: The General tab may also display user-defined fields in an additional section if your Alloy Navigator administrator has configured them accordingly. The default name of this section is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator administrator may have renamed this section.

Custom Data tab

This tab allows you to view values of the user-defined fields that your Alloy Navigator administrator has configured in addition to the standard built-in fields of the Announcement. The default name of this tab is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator administrator may have renamed this tab.

Related Objects tab

The Related Objects tab lists all objects related to the Announcement and allows you to open them by double-clicking corresponding list items.

The list of related objects includes:

  • The objects directly related to the main object.

  • The objects related to the related objects. The relations are shown as a hierarchical tree. When you access this tab, the tree is collapsed. To expand a node and view the nested relations, click the Expand icon on the left of the desired object. To collapse a tree node, click the minus button on the left of the node. You can edit these relations from one of the directly related objects' records.

Attachments tab

The Attachments tab allows you to manage attachments (files and links) added to the Announcement. For instructions, see Attachments tab.
