Checking results of archiving jobs

For Alloy Navigator Enterprise On-Prem

After you have configured an archiving job, you can test it to make sure the job works correctly.

Before you begin, complete these steps:

  • Make sure that the Automation Server is running. You can do this by checking the status of the Automation Server icon in the Settings status bar.

INFO: For details, see Automation Server.

  • Make sure that your Alloy Navigator database contains closed Tickets that were not modified for the specified period of time or longer, i.e., you have records that match the job policy.

IMPORTANT: If archiving was successful, matching data records will be permanently removed from the Alloy Navigator database.

To force run the archiving job and check its results immediately:

  1. In the Settings, from the Sidebar, navigate to Services > Archiving > Archiving, select an archiving job and click Run on the Module menu. If the Run command is unavailable, click Refresh to refresh the displayed information.

  2. To verify that the job has run and processed the data, go to Services > Archiving > Logs and review the most recent entry at the top. If the job is configured to archive data (not only purge), and an archive database has been created, double-click the entry and review the database name.

Log data is also available on the Sessions tab of the Archiving dialog box where you configure the job.

INFO: For details, see Alloy Navigator Logs.

  3. In the Alloy Navigator Desktop App or Web App, make sure that the job did remove records as expected.

  4. To check archived records, go to Services > Archiving > Archive Databases, browse the database and view archived Tickets.
