Custom fields for SNMP devices

This page explains how to create custom SNMP fields to collect additional information from network devices, such as printers or switches, during an audit. By defining custom fields, you can retrieve and store device-specific details that are not included in standard audits.

To add a new custom field for SNMP devices:

  1. On the Custom audit fields page click to start the process of creating a new custom field. The Add new field sliding pane is displayed.

  2. Provide the following parameters:

    • Label: The label for the field, which will be displayed to users during the scanning process.

    • Name: A descriptive name for the field.

    • Device type: Defines the category of device the custom field applies to. For data collection from SNMP devices, this should be set to SNMP device.

    • Device subtype: Specifies the type of SNMP device the field applies to. You can select Printer or Switch.

    • Field type: Select a data type for the field. The following options are available:

      • Memo: This data type is used for storing longer blocks of text, such as notes or comments.

      • String: This data type is used for storing single-line character strings, such as the name of a device.

    • SNMP OID The Object Identifier (OID) that specifies the SNMP attribute to collect. The OID defines the exact data point within the device’s Management Information Base (MIB).

    • Description: A brief explanation of the field's purpose.
