General tab

The General tab contains the details about the Organization.

The information is organized in the following fields and sections:

  • ID - shows the automatically generated number of the Organization record.

  • Status - displays the status of the Organization record. The list of problem statuses is defined by your Alloy Navigator Express administrator.

  • Name - shows the name of the Organization.

  • Location - displays the physical location of the company. When the Location field is filled out, you can open the Location record by clicking the field label that becomes a link.

  • Manager - displays the name of the Person selected as the Organization manager. When the manager is chosen, the field label becomes hyperlinked and you can open the corresponding Person record by clicking this link.

  • Categorization section contains the following fields:

    • Type - shows the type of Organization (Organization or Department).
    • Category - displays the category of Organization.
    • Internal - indicates if this record describes your Organization. All other companies with which your organization has any relationships (for example, suppliers, customer organizations, etc.) are considered external. Only one top-level Organization can be marked as internal, in this case all its subordinate Organizations are considered as internal as well. For details, see Marking Organizations as internal.
    • Customer - specifies that this is a customer Organization.
  • Email - shows the e-mail address for the organization. Once you fill in this field, you can click the Email hyperlink to open a blank e-mail message in your default e-mail client.

  • Phone - displays the contact telephone number of the organization.

  • Fax - shows the facsimile number of the organization.

  • Web Page - shows the organization’s website address. Once you fill in this field, you can click the Web Page hyperlink to connect to the specified web site.

  • Address and Address 2 - allows you to store one or two addresses for the organization, for example, the shipping and the billing addresses.

The General tab may also display various user-defined fields in an additional section if your Alloy Navigator Express administrator has configured them accordingly. The default name of this section is "Custom Data", although your Alloy Navigator Express administrator may have renamed this section.

NOTE: User-defined fields can appear also on the Custom Data tab (this is the default name of the tab; it can be renamed by your Alloy Navigator Express administrator).
