Managing tags
Introduced in 2024
Tags are multicolored labels used for multi-category classification, providing additional depth and context to data, in addition to traditional types and categories. This article explains how to create, edit, and delete tags in the Admin Center, and how to view and interpret usage details for existing tags.
The Tag Management section in the Admin Center of Alloy Navigator Express enables administrators to create, edit, and delete tags, as well as view usage information for tags already in use.
Creating new tags
Creating tags allows for more precise data categorization and better data insights. Tags can represent different statuses, priorities, departments, or any custom category that helps in organizing data more effectively.
To create a new tag:
-
Click the + New button. The New Tag sliding pane appears.
-
Enter a name for the tag describing its purpose. For example, if you are creating a tag to indicate high priority issues, you might name it "High Priority".
-
Design the tag:
-
Predefined design: If you prefer a quick setup, click on and select a design from the drop-down menu. Predefined designs offer a combination of font and background colors that are visually appealing and easy to differentiate.
-
Custom design: For more specific needs, choose the font color and background color separately.
-
-
Click OK to save the new tag. The tag will now be available for use across the platform (see Tagging records for details).
Managing existing tags
To ensure tags remain relevant and useful, they need to be updated when necessary and occasionally deleted.
To edit a tag:
-
From the list of existing tags, click on the tag you wish to edit. The sliding pane with the tag details is displayed.
-
Update the name, font color, and background color as required.
-
Click OK to save the modifications. The updates will reflect across all records where the tag is applied.
To delete a tag:
-
From the list of existing tags, click on the tag you wish to delete.
-
Click delete and confirm the deletion. Be cautious, as deleting a tag removes it from all records.
To view tag usage:
Click on an existing tag from the list to display its details. The Usage Details section includes the following information:
-
Which components the tag is applied to.
-
How many times the tag has been applied.
