Managing widgets

Widgets in Alloy Navigator Express are informative panels that are displayed within the dashboard in the Desktop App and Web App. The main purpose of widgets is providing users with various information that may be useful for them to see on the dashboard.

There are many types of widgets: Chart, Table, Links, etc. All created widgets are shared, which means that you can create a widget once and use it in the dashboard.

When or modifying a dashboard, you specify a set of default widgets, which will be displayed within the dashboard by default, and a wider set of widgets potentially available in the dashboard. Users can then personalize their dashboards by selecting which widgets to display, arranging them on the dashboard, resizing them, or removing the ones they do not need.

NOTE: Currently, dashboard customization is not available in the Web App.

The location of each widget on the dashboard is determined by its position in a dashboard layout. A dashboard layout is a grid of cells, i.e. a combination of rows and columns. Each dashboard has its own layout, which you specify when modifying a dashboard. Additionally, you can create reusable layouts, which can be quickly applied to any dashboard.

You manage widgets in the Customization > General > Dashboard Management > Widgets section, which contains the [Widget Type] subsections for all supported types.

Typical operations that can be performed with widgets are the following:

• Creating widgets

• Modifying widgets

• Copying widgets

• Deleting widgets
