Project - Tasks tab
Updated in 2025
This article describes the Tasks tab that lets you manage all tasks related to a project in one place. Here, you can create new tasks, update them using workflow actions, delete tasks, and organize your work the way that suits you best.
You can perform common task actions directly from the tab:
-
Create a task: Click New on the Module menu and select the appropriate command.
-
Open a task: Double-click a task in the grid to open it in a separate window.
-
Delete a task: Select a task in the grid, then click Actions > Delete on the Module menu.
-
Trigger workflow actions: Use the context menu or toolbar to apply workflow steps as needed.
Switching between task views
You can view project tasks in three different layouts. Use the view switcher to move between them, depending on how you prefer to work:
-
List: View tasks in a grid with filtering and sorting options. Ideal for working with task hierarchies and bulk updates.
-
Gantt chart: Visualize the timeline and dependencies of your project tasks.
-
Kanban board: Use a status-based board to track and move tasks through their workflow steps.
Project – Tasks tab – List
In the List view, tasks are shown in a table format. You can choose from three data views to control how tasks are displayed:
-
All Descendants: Shows a flat list of all tasks under the project, including children, grandchildren, and deeper levels. Unlike the Hierarchy Tree view, this view does not show relationships between tasks.
-
Children Only: Shows only immediate (child-level) tasks directly under the project.
-
Hierarchy Tree: Displays a hierarchical tree of the project’s task hierarchy, including all levels of nested tasks, and shows how tasks relate to one another.
NOTE: You cannot rearrange tasks by dragging them within the tree.
TIP: If you want a visual timeline of the project’s tasks, use the Gantt chart view. For details, see Gantt Chart tab.
