Configuring self-registration
Introduced in 2025.2
In the Apps and Portals > Self Service Portal > Self-Registration section, administrators configure whether users can sign up for the Self Service Portal on their own.
Self-registration is available only when the Self Service Portal uses Standard Authentication. When self-registration is enabled, users can register from the Self Service Portal Sign in page. Depending on the selected mode, their accounts are either activated immediately or created as pending requests that require administrator approval.
Self-registration modes
Choose one of the following options:
-
Disabled: Users cannot register themselves.
-
Enabled automatically: Users can register and are activated immediately.
-
Enabled with approval: Users can register, but an administrator must approve the registration request before the account becomes active.
When self-registration is enabled, the Register link appears on the Sign In page of the Self Service Portal. After clicking the link, the self-registering customer will be prompted to enter the name, desired user name and password, and contact information. Alloy Navigator will use this data to automatically create a web-only SSP Customer account for that customer and the associated Person record.
Registration workflow
Use the Create new Person using action field to specify the action that creates a Person record for a self-registered user.
To select the action:
-
Click the ellipsis button next to the field. The Select Action pane is displayed.
-
In the Select Action pane, select the action used for self-registration.
-
Click OK.
The list shows the action ID, name, and description. Use the search field to filter the list.
For the default configuration, select New Person (Self-Registration). This action creates a Person record through the Self Service Portal self-registration workflow.
When approval is required, the Person record is created only after the registration request is approved.
NOTE: You manage Service Actions for a particular object class in the Settings App, in the Workflow and Business Logic > [Module] > [Object Class] > Workflow > Actions section. For details, see Configuring Service Actions.
Email Notifications
Use the Email Notifications section to configure who receives notifications about self-registration activity.
In the Recipient email address field, enter the email address that should receive notification messages. Then select the notifications to send:
-
Send notifications when users self-register: Sends a notification when a user completes self-registration.
-
Send notifications when approval is required: Sends a notification when a registration request requires administrator approval.
NOTE: To view or modify the templates for SSP notifications, go to Notifications > SSP E-mail Templates. For more information, see Modifying templates for SSP notifications.
Pending registration requests
The Pending registration requests section lists self-registration requests that are waiting for approval.
The list shows the following information: Name, Username, Account Access Level, and Request Date.
Use the toolbar to manage pending requests:
-
Open: Opens the selected registration request.
-
Approve: Approves the selected request and activates the user account.
-
Reject: Rejects the selected registration request.
Use the search field to filter the list of pending requests.
When a request is approved, the user account becomes active and the user can sign in to the Self Service Portal.
