Grouping Actions and Triggers into Processes

You can group a number of workflow Actions and Triggers into a Process. Each Process can include workflow items and components for various object classes. This grouping is used only for classification.

In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, you view the list of Processes and manage them. In this section, you can add Processes, change their names, descriptions, and display order, or delete them.

  • ClosedTo add a new Process:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Click New. The Process window opens.

    3. Type in the Process name in the Name field.

    4. Optional: Type in the Process description.

    5. Click OK.

    TIP: You can also add new Process on the fly, when assigning an Action or Trigger Rule to Processes, by clicking Add on the Processes tab, and then clicking New.

  • ClosedTo modify a Process definition:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Double-click the target Process in the workspace pane on the right. The Process window opens.

    3. Change the details as needed.

    4. Click OK.

  • ClosedTo change the display order of Processes:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Select a Process and use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to change its position. Repeat this step to re-order other Processes as needed.

  • ClosedTo delete a Process:

    • In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    • Select the target Process in the workspace pane on the right and click Delete.

    NOTE: When deleting a Process, you just remove this classification, but not workflow items that were assigned to this Process.

In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes > Process List > [Process] section, you can view the list of workflow Actions and Triggers assigned to the Process.

In addition, this section allows you to create new Actions and Triggers and automatically assign them to the selected Process. Also, you can remove Actions and Triggers from the selected Process.

  • ClosedTo create a "Create Action" and assign it to the Process:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click the target Process under Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Click New > Create > [Object Class]. The Create Action [ID] window opens.

    3. Configure the Action. For instructions, see Configuring Create Actions.

    4. Click OK.

  • ClosedTo create a Step and assign it to the Process:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click the target Process under Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Click New > Step > [Object Class]. The Step [ID] window opens.

    3. Configure the Step. For instructions, see Configuring Steps.

    4. Click OK.

  • ClosedTo create a Trigger and assign it to the Process:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click the target Process under Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Click New > [Trigger Type] > [Object Class]. The Trigger [Type] [ID] window opens.

    3. Configure the Trigger. For details, see Configuring Triggers.

    4. Click OK.

  • ClosedTo remove an Action or Trigger from the Process:

    1. In the Workflow and Business Logic > Advanced > Processes section, click the target Process under Process List in the middle navigation bar.

    2. Select the Action or Trigger that you want to remove and click Delete.

    NOTE: When you remove an Action or Trigger from a Process, you just remove this classification, but not this Action or Trigger itself.

TIP: You can also assign an existing Action or Trigger to the Process by clicking Add on the Processes tab in the relevant workflow item's window.
