Start the production Automation Server and Inventory Server

Once the upgrade process is complete, start your Automation Server and Inventory Server to get started wit the production use of the latest version. On the computer hosting your production Automation Server and Inventory Server, use the Automation Server Manager and Inventory Server Manager to configure your production server to access to the production databases, and start them. If needed, refer to the detailed instructions below.

To start the production Automation Server:

  1. On the computer hosting the production Automation Server, launch the Automation Server Manager for Alloy Navigator (for example, using the Alloy Control Panel).

  2. Before configuring the Automation Server, you may need to import the Database Access Key to allow the server to access your production database.

    1. Under Connection, click Import Key and import the Database Access Key to the local computer. This is the key that was generated during the switchover of the pilot Alloy Navigator database to production.

      This populates the SQL Server and Database fields with the values from the imported key.

    2. Fine-tune the database connection details, if needed: in the SQL Server field, enter the network address of the SQL Server, which may differ from the SQL Server name specified in the Database Access Key.

  3. Click Test Connection to make sure that the Automation Server can connect to the production database using the specified settings.

  4. Click Start.

  5. Click OK to exit the Automation Server Manager.

To start the production Alloy Inventory Server:

  1. On the computer hosting the production Alloy Inventory Server, run the Inventory Server Manager for Alloy Discovery (for example, using the Alloy Control Panel).

  2. Before configuring the Inventory Server, you may need to import the Database Access Key for the production Alloy Discovery database.

    1. Under Connection, click Import Key and import the Database Access Key to the local computer. This populates the SQL Server and Database fields with the values from the imported key.

    2. Fine-tune the database connection details, if needed: in the SQL Server field, enter the network address of the SQL Server, which may differ from the SQL Server name specified in the Database Access Key.

    3. Click Test Connection to make sure that the Inventory Server can connect to the production database using the specified settings.

  3. Click Start.

  4. Click OK to exit the Inventory Server Manager.

If you have several Inventory Server instances for your production database, you should start every instance.
