Activating Alloy Navigator

To use Alloy Navigator, you must activate it. There are two activation scenarios:

  • Activate Alloy Navigator after you have created a new database (including the database created as a result of data migration from a previous version).
  • Update your license after your license has been changed (for example, after increasing the user limit) or after your database has been moved from one SQL server to another.

Activation can be performed over the Internet or using your personalized license key file. A few things must be in place:

  • Internet activation requires you to provide your registered e-mail address and the serial number received after the purchase.
  • File activation requires your personalized license key file (license.dat file).

NOTE: If you are unable to locate your e-mail address, serial number, or your digital license key, please contact Alloy Software sales team at sales@alloysoftware.com for assistance.

To activate Alloy Navigator:

  1. From the Sidebar, navigate to General > License Management.
  2. In the License Management window, choose the activation method: Over Internet or From file.
  3. Click Activate.
  4. Depending on the activation method:
    • In the Activation via Internet window, provide your e-mail address and the Alloy Navigator serial number, then click Activate.
    • In the Open License Key File window, browse for and select your license key file, then click Open.
  5. When the system informs you that Alloy Navigator is activated, click OK.

To update your license:

  1. Under License Information, review the details of your actual Alloy Navigator license: the serial number, expiration date, licensing model, and other information.

  2. Under Update License, choose the activation method: Over Internet or From file.

    IMPORTANT: To re-activate Alloy Navigator after moving your database to another SQL server, use the Over Internet option.

  3. Click Update.
  4. Depending on the activation method:
    • In the Activation via Internet window, provide your e-mail address and the Alloy Navigator serial number, then click Activate.
    • In the Open License Key File window, browse for and select your license key file, then click Open.
  5. Review the License Update details and click Apply to apply your changes.

NOTE: 25 days before the license expires, the Desktop App displays the warning message in the status bar. Clicking this message opens the Settings at General > License Management section, where you can update the license. You can also access this section by clicking Help > Product Activation on the main menu.
