Service Actions for Alloy Discovery Synchronization

The Alloy Discovery Connector creates Computers, Chromebooks, Hardware, Persons, Locations, and Organizations records. It also updates Computers, Chromebooks, and Hardware with information from audit snapshots through workflow Service Actions:

  • Create Service Action for Computers — This Action handles the creation of Computers during the synchronization.

  • Create Service Action for Chromebooks — This Action handles the creation of Chromebook Computer records during the synchronization.

  • Update Service Task for Computers — This Action handles the modification of existing Computers based on the latest audit data from Alloy Discovery.

  • Update Service Task for Chromebooks — This Action handles the modification of existing Chromebook Computer records based on the latest audit data from Alloy Discovery.

  • Create Service Action for Persons — This Action defines how to create Persons when the computer user from Alloy Discovery can’t be matched to a Person record in Alloy Navigator.

  • Create Service Action for Hardware — This Action handles the creation of Hardware records for network devices discovered in Alloy Discovery.

  • Update Service Task for Hardware — This Action handles the modification of existing Hardware records based on the latest audit data from Alloy Discovery.

NOTE: The default workflow provides ready-to-use Service Actions for Alloy Discovery Synchronization, which are generally sufficient for many organizations. We recommend that you keep the defaults. If needed, you can customize the default Actions as you need, or create new Service Actions. For details, see Adding Create Service Actions.

You have the option to customize workflow Service Actions when configuring the Alloy Discovery Synchronization job. It is recommended that you first review the Workflow Management for better understanding of the workflow management functionality. Also, set up all necessary Service Actions before configuring the job.

Also if needed, you can create a new workflow Service Actions right when configuring the synchronization job. However, due to the involved complexity we recommend that you create the necessary Service Action in advance.
