Working with Service Catalog items

You create, edit, or delete SC items from the Service Catalog module. To access this module, select either Service Management > Service Catalog in the Sidebar, or Go > Service Catalogfrom the main menu.

Using the Module menu you can also categorize SC items. For details, see Categorizing objects, Managing service categories.

Service Catalog Item window

When you open a Service Catalog record, the Service Catalog Item window displays information in the top pane and a number of tabs.

The top pane includes the following fields:

ID - displays the auto-generated number of the Service Catalog Item.

Status - shows the status of the Service Catalog Item.

Below the top pane, the following tabs are available:

The Module menu of a Service Catalog Item window allows you to perform the following actions:

  • ClosedCreate new Service Catalog Item:

    • Click New > Service Catalog Item, specify its details and click OK.

  • ClosedPrint out Service Catalog Item details:

    • Click Print > Service Catalog Item Details.

  • ClosedPrint out a report for SC items:

    1. Click Print and choose Manage Reports from the pop-up menu.

    2. In a separate window, do one of the following:

      • To browse a report, click New, in a separate window, select a report file and click Open.

      • To view a report, choose a report from the list and click Run Report.

      • To save a report, choose a report from the list, click Organize > Save As, specify the report name and click Save.

      • To replace a report, choose the report from the list and click Rename, in a separate window, specify the file name and click Open.

      • To hide/show a report in Print menu, select the report and click Organize > Hide from Print menu/Show in Print menu.

      • To rename a report, select the report and press F2, in a separate window, specify a new report name and click OK.

      • To delete a report, select the report and click Organize >Delete.

    3. Click Close.

  • ClosedRefresh the window to reflect the latest changes:

    • Click Actions > Refresh.

  • ClosedView all SC Item's dependencies:

    • Click Actions > Show Dependencies.

  • ClosedCreate a Service Request for an Item:

    • On the Actions pane, click SubmitRequest, specify its details (for details, see Service Request records) and click OK.
