Choosing Startup Account and Authentication

When configuring the Inventory Server, you choose two parameters:

• Startup Account — This is the Windows account under which the Inventory Server is running. This account defines the security context for all operations performed by the Inventory Server. By default, the built-in Network Service account is used. You can keep the default settings or select another account.

  NOTE: If you choose Network Browser as your discovery option in the Direct Network Scan, use the Windows domain startup account for your Inventory Server. For details, see Administration Guide: Adding Direct Network Scan Audit Sources, First Direct Network Scan with the Quick Start Wizard.

• Connection — The Database Access Key imported to the Inventory Server computer. The Database Access Key defines how the Inventory Server connects to the Alloy Discovery database.
