Viewing Change History

Alloy Discovery allows you to track change history for the audited computers and Chromebooks. The change history consists of Change Events that describe hardware, software, or system changes between consecutive audits of a computer or Chromebook.

You can view the change history at the following levels:

Alloy Discovery administrator can configure whether the results of the first audit of a computer will be reported as Change Events (for details, see Change History Settings) and set up pruning options for removing old audit snapshots and change history data (for details, see Repository Options).

Change History Statistics

The change history statistics summarize Change Events detected on the computers and Chromebooks in the selected scope: either Site, or Collection, or the whole Alloy Discovery database, within the specified period of time.

You can view change history statistics for the following inventory scopes:

  • For all computers and Chromebooks in your Alloy Discovery database, in the Change History section of the Dashboard.

  • For all computers in a Site, on the Change History tab of the Computers grid of a Site (for details, see Computers grid).

  • For all Chromebooks in a Site, on the Change History tab of the Computers grid of a Site (for details, see Chromebooks grid).

  • For all computers and Chromebooks in a Site, in the Change History section of the Site Statistics page (for details, see Site Statistics).

  • For all computers in a Computer Collection, on the Change History tab of the Computers grid for a Collection (for details, see Computers grid).

  • For all Chromebooks in a Chromebook Collection, on the Change History tab of the Chromebooks grid for a Collection (for details, see Computers grid).

The statistics include the following data:

  • Number of found computers.

  • Number of found Chromebooks.

  • Number of hardware items detected on new computers or Chromebooks.

  • Number of software products detected on new computers or Chromebooks.

  • Number of configuration objects detected on new computers or Chromebooks.

  • Number of hardware changes detected on existing computers or Chromebooks.

  • Number of software products installed/removed on existing computers or Chromebooks.

  • Number of configuration changes detected on existing computers or Chromebooks.

By default, the statistics is shown for the current date (today). To view the statistics for another time period, take either of the following steps:

  • To view the change history statistics for the previous day, week, or month, select For in the Change History drop-down list and the desired period in the drop-down list on the right.

  • To view the change history for a specific date, month, or year, select the desired period in the Change History drop-down list and its value in the drop-down list on the right.

  • To view the details for any statistics record, click this record. The data will be shown in the Change History window.

  • To view the Change History for all computers and Chromebooks in the database, click the View Complete History link. The data will be shown in the Change History window.
